This retrospective of work on paper by Giorgio Griffa (born Turin 1936) presents images from the past five decades of the artist’s career. The show highlights the importance of the repetition of minimal gestures and signs in his practice. It includes watercolours, and drawings in pencil, pen, ink, and crayon. A monograph reproducing all works is available from Mousse Publishing.
This exhibition is the third of four curated by Andrea Bellini, each addressing a specific aspect of Giorgio Griffa’s work. The first, a major retrospective, was held at the Centre d’ Art Contemporain Genève, 2015, and was followed by an exhibition of recent work at the Bergen Kunsthall, 2015; the fourth show opens at Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art in Porto this year.
Later this month an exhibition of paintings curated by Bice Curiger opens at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh in Arles, France.
